On our way to Nice, France! We took a sleeper train to get there. This was the inside of our car. It had 6 bunk beds. Not the best sleep in the world, but definitely better than sleeping in a chair on the train.
We made it into Nice just in time to see the sunset on the French Riviera!
More beach views.
Exploring through the streets of Nice.
The buildings are built very close to eachother.
Many balconies had wet clothes drying on them.
The Blockhead library. Supposedly there is a library inside of the cube! We tried to figure out how to get in, but we couldn’t find the entrance. Oh well…
Making our way up the Château.
I thought this archway was a pretty cool photo spot.
Messing around on the Château.
We found a waterfall!
Gardens on the Château.
Ruins of the Cathedral that used to reside onto of the Château.
Overlooking the city of Nice from the top of the Château.
You can see all of the yachts in the bay.
The city of nice and the Mediterranean Sea.
Had to get a group pic.
Such a beautiful view from the other side of the Château. The coastline you see is where we saw the sunrise from earlier that morning.
Look at the birds! haha
Nice was such a big city
I must have seen something exciting? Or maybe I’m just making weird faces.
We found an Israelite Cemetery. Many of the tombstones contained Jewish Holocaust victims
View of the Cemetery.
The tree was destroying the tombstone.
An example of a tombstone containing someone who died during the Holocaust. “Morte dans les Camps de Concentration” = “Died within the Concentration Camp
Heading back down into the city.
Walking through the streets, looking at all of the shops.
Decided to grab some lunch in the city streets.
These fries were amazing.
A Russian Cathedral Malavika was dying to see. It had a pretty cool aesthetic.
We got dinner back in the “Old Town” of Nice. Accidentally went to an expensive restaurant. Oh well, it was great. Pizza and Rosé… What more could I ask for?
Monte Carlo, Monaco
Walking through the streets of Monte Carlo.
Had to go “yacht shopping”. If only we could afford one…
Because Monte Carlo is basically on the edge of a mountain, many of the roads went through tunnels beneath the mountain.
Hiking up the mountain to get to the Palace.
It’s kind of hard to see, but there were soldiers going through their runs in front of the Palace. It was pretty cool to watch.
Views of the Monte Carlo Bay.
The city of Monte Carlo
Monaco is such a pretty country. It’s small, but beautiful.
Yet another Cathedral.
Musée Océanographique! The Oceanographic Museum in Monaco.
This is what the very first submarine looked like. It is extremely small and completely made of wood. The propellers had to be spun by hand using levers inside the submarine.
Imagine swimming in the Mediterranean Sea and coming across one of these…
Trying to find some cheap food to eat within Monte Carlo. We thought the mall would have a cheap food court. Unfortunately, this was the mall. If the chandelier doesn’t give you any indication, there was nothing cheap in this mall.
Back in Nice! Walking through the Fruit and Flower market.
Bought a quiche for breakfast from the Market.
Decided to spend our last few hours on the beach. There were people out swimming!
Playing with the stones.
One last look at the French Riviera before departing back on a 10 hour train ride to Metz.
